Texas truck accident causes injuries to both drivers

November 21, 2013
by Ted B Lyon & Associates

When a motorist is involved in an accident with a semi-truck, it is often a dangerous and sometimes deadly event. An early morning collision occurred on a Texas highway, involving a semi-truck and a sedan. The truck accident caused injuries and blocked the roadway for an unspecified amount of time.

Fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene of the accident. Reportedly, the collision started off when the driver of a semi-truck was traveling over a bridge and, for an unknown reason, plowed into the bridge railing. Another motorist, who was driving a sedan, became involved in the accident when debris struck the vehicle. The impact from the collision caused a large amount of fuel from the semi to spill into the road.

A portion of the highway was blocked in order for the scene to be cleared up. A long-time fire chief stated that this was likely the most damage he had ever seen occur to a semi-truck and another vehicle. Both the driver of the car and the driver of the semi-truck were transported to the hospital for treatment. The condition of both parties has not been reported.

Fortunately, no one was killed in this truck accident. Depending on the degree of the injuries, the driver of the car may find relief in the Texas civil justice system by filing a legal claim against the driver of the semi-truck. If this matter reaches the courtroom, evidence is generally reviewed to determine liability and the appropriate amount of reimbursement that should be awarded to the victim.
