Ted B. Lyon Jr. graduated from East Texas University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. Ted received his Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1975, and was licensed by the Texas Supreme Court in 1976, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas in 1976, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in 1984, the United States Supreme Court in 1986, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas in 1993.

Ted has been committed to public service for his entire life. As a former police officer, a member of the Texas House of Representatives and Senate, as a lawyer, an outdoorsman, a spouse and father, Ted Lyon knows people. Acting as a lawyer for injured individuals and families is thus neither a goal nor an aspiration, but simply a way of life. Since graduating from Southern Methodist University Law School in 1975, Ted has dedicated the past twenty-six years to helping people. Before turning to private practice, Ted spent fifteen years in the legislature, serving four years in the Texas House of Representatives and eleven years in the Texas Senate, respectively. Ted received more than twenty awards and honors for his accomplishments in the legislature. D Magazine recently named Ted as one of the top personal injury lawyers in Dallas.

Ted is a member of the following organizations: Mesquite Bar Association (Treasurer, 1977; Secretary 1979; Vice President 1979; President 1980); Dallas Rockwall County Bar Association; American Bar Association; State Bar of Texas; Southern Trial Lawyers Association; College of the State Bar; American Board of Trial Advocates; Dallas Trial Lawyers Association (Board of Directors); Southern Trial Lawyers Association (Board of Directors); and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum (Board of Directors).
