Firm founder Ted B. Lyon has been committed to public service for his entire life. As a former police officer, a member of the Texas House of Representatives and Senate, as a lawyer, an outdoorsman, a spouse and father, Ted Lyon knows people. At his firm, advocating a client's interests is neither a goal nor an aspiration, but simply a way of life.

Since graduating from Southern Methodist University Law School in 1975, Ted has dedicated the past twenty-six years of his life to helping people. Specifically, Ted spent fifteen years in the legislature, serving four years in the Texas House of Representatives and eleven years in the Texas Senate, respectively.

In 1987, Ted achieved the largest verdict in the nation for the loss of a child; and unsurprisingly, in 1999, he once again earned the largest wrongful death verdict for a youth's death, surpassing his earlier mark. The firm's 1999 verdict in Smalley v. Koch Industries earned national recognition and was noted in the National Law Journal and the National Law Review as the fifth largest verdict nationwide; and the largest single wrongful death verdict, in actual damages, in our nation's history. The Smalley case was also the largest verdict in Texas in 1999. The story of Danielle Smalley's death, and her representation by the lawyers in this firm, was featured by CBS on Sixty Minutes II. Ted has been interviewed on multiple occasions by the national media and has appeared on Good Morning America and Sixty Minutes II. Ted has been a speaker at the national and state trial forums and has advised the United States Justice Department. He has assembled a team of lawyers and staff that can handle the most complex of cases.
