Wrongful death claim may follow tragic Texas accident

One of the most devastating experiences in anybody's life is losing a spouse or child in a fatal accident. When the car accident could have been avoided, the situation becomes even more tragic. Picking up the pieces after such a traumatic experience can be extremely difficult. While so much is going on, the next of kin also has to face the expenses associated with a funeral and burial after a wrongful death.

Three Texas families are currently trying to cope with shock and heartache after a horrific accident that claimed two lives and left one person in critical condition. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 385 on a recent Sunday evening. A 22-year-old female driver in a truck was southbound on the highway when an eastbound sedan allegedly ran a stop sign at an intersection. The sedan reportedly smashed into the truck and sent both vehicles careening into a field along the highway.

Both the 20-year-old driver and his 23-year-old passenger in the sedan were declared dead at the accident scene. The truck driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a medical center. The media report made no mention of an investigation or whether alcohol was suspected to be a contributing factor in the accident.

Texas residents who have lost loved ones in a fatal car accident may want to seek justice against the negligent parties who caused the accident. If there is evidence that the sedan's driver was negligent and contributed significantly to the accident, the family of his passenger retains the right to pursue recovery of financial losses by filing a wrongful death claim against the driver's estate in a civil court. Similarly, the injured truck driver may file a personal injury claim. There is help available to provide support, advice and representation throughout the process.
